Anderson Plaza was dedicated on Oct. 22, 2010, in loving memory of Brooke Kristine Anderson (1979-2005) as a gift to the South Dakota Art Museum by her parents, Lynn A. and Diane Engh Anderson. It is open year-round to museum visitors, the university community and the public.
The Scott Wallace sculpture, "Oasis," was added on Oct. 24, 2014, through an additional generous gift of Lynn and Diane Anderson. Oasis is intended as a metaphor, representing a refuge for enrichment and the source of a rippling effect that extends beyond. It reflects the impact of the South Dakota Art Museum in the lives of students and indeed the entire state. So, too, it reflects the impact an individual can have on society.
