Grievance Process

Student Disability Services Grievance Process

  1. The student should share their concern or grievance with the Office of Disability Services. Staff members within the Office of Disability Services will work with the student to find a solution.
  2. If the student feels the issue wasn't properly addressed by the Office of Disability Services, they can email the Director of Multicultural Affairs or call 605-688-6494, who will also work with the student to resolve the problem.
  3. If the student is still not satisfied, they can reach out and email the Dean of Students or call 605-688-4493.
  4. If the issue remains unresolved, the student can email the Title IX/Equal Opportunity office or call 605-688-4128.

Any student who believes they were treated unfairly because of gender or another protected category is encouraged to contact the Office of Title IX/Equal Opportunity Coordinator.

Responses can be expected within 15 calendar days.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. The student should first discuss their concern with the professor's department chair.
  2. If they are not satisfied with the result, they should then bring the issue to the Dean of the college where the department is located.
  3. If the student is still unhappy with the outcome, they can take their concern to the University's Provost office.
