The School of English and Interdisciplinary Studies offers the Bachelor of Arts degree with specializations in English, English education, interdisciplinary studies and writing, as well as the Master of Arts degree in English, which can be earned either on campus or online. In addition, we offer an undergraduate minor in English. Our faculty specialize in British and American literature, juvenile literature, ethnic literatures, women’s writing, creative writing, rhetoric, composition, professional and technical writing, legal writing, publishing and editing, literary and cultural theory, film studies and peace and conflict studies.
The School of English and Interdisciplinary Studies houses the refereed journal "Victorian Periodicals Review," hosts the annual Great Plains Writers Conference and sponsors the student-published literary and art magazine "Oakwood," which features the work of authors and artists from the Midwestern region. The School of English and Interdisciplinary Studies sponsors English Club, a student activity group for students in English and regularly organizes events for our majors, minors and the larger university community.
