The mission of Facilities and Services is to provide the physical environment to realize the mission of South Dakota State University. SDSU’s mission is to offer a rich academic experience in an environment of inclusion and access through inspired, student-centered education, creative activities and research, innovation and engagement that improves the quality of life in South Dakota, the region, the nation and the world.
When fully staffed with 225 full-time employees and approximately 30 part-time student employees, Facilities and Services is the largest on-site department at SDSU. With licensed professionals, trade experts and facility workers, Facilities and Services is able to efficiently plan, manage and maintain the various SDSU environments of learning, working, living, innovation and recreation.
We strive to put the best resources in place – people, equipment, training and materials. Facilities and Services is committed to installing the best materials for the application and gives careful assessment of the durability, sustainability and maintainability of all products. Campus design standards allow for predictable results and employee development and training assures our staff is equipped for the varied and diverse tasks associated with their day-to-day work.
