Through innovation and entrepreneurship, Theodore and John Overby revolutionized agricultural life in South Dakota. Hailing from Mellette, South Dakota, the Overby brothers designed and built a corn harvester that simultaneously husked the corn, mechanizing a labor intensive job before a machine was commercially available. The brothers patented a total of nine inventions relating to agriculture all while pursuing their own interests in agronomy and affecting change in their communities.
