Our Services
The Office of Nursing Research (ONR) is available to assist with a variety of research-related activities, both pre- and post-award. If you are interested in obtaining assistance, please contact the grants program specialist.
Pre-Award Services
- Assist with identifying funding sources.
- Provide assistance with the grant submission process and working with SDSU Grants Administration.
- Provide templates for letters of support, letters of agreement, resource description, timelines, etc.
- Assist with budget development.
- Review and approve budgets within the school and at the campus level.
- Assist with preparing/completing all agency and SDSU forms.
- Facilitate a mock review of a grant proposal.
- Assist with compiling and transmitting final application Identification of statistical consultant.
Post-Award Services
- Maintain a budget tracking system.
- Assist with purchasing supplies and equipment.
- Assist with preparing the progress/final reports to the funding agency.
- Assist with finding student research assistants.
- Aid in setting up a database.
- Review of survey or data collection tool.
- Manuscript review.
- SPSS and NVivo software is available for installation. License charges are covered by the College of Nursing for faculty on a research trajectory. Periodic research seminars introduce faculty and students to SPSS.
- Endnote citation manager software is available for free download from the Hilton M. Briggs Library at SDSU. Periodic training is offered by librarians.
- QuestionPro is an online survey research software available for free download from the SDSU Instructional Technology office. Periodic research seminars introduce faculty and students to QuestionPro.

SDSU Office of Nursing Research - Intent to Submit a Grant | The intent to submit a grant form should be completed and submitted to the Office of Nursing Research grant program specialist prior development of a grant proposal. |
SDSU Routing Form | The SDSU external routing form is used to route the proposal prior to submitting it to the sponsoring agency. The routing form and a final version of the proposed budget plus a version of the proposal complete enough to validate the information on the Routing Form must be submitted in advance of the grant application deadline. Approval of the application materials must be given before submitting the application to the funding agency. |
Office of Nursing Research Mock Grant Review | The mock grant review guidelines are available for faculty members who are submitting outgoing grant proposals. The mock review process simulates the review process utilized by national and federal funding agencies. Reviewers will critique grant proposals based on individual grant application and funding criteria. |
SDSU Hilton Briggs Library | The SDSU Hilton Briggs Library has resources available on their website for information literacy and research guide - citing, copyright and ethics as well as online EndNote training to support grant writing and reference citing. |
SDSU Office of Research Assurance and Sponsored Programs | The Division of Research and Economic Development provides essential services in research development and external funding, scholarship, creative activities and other projects. This office provides assistance to professors as they develop competitive grant proposals. The ORASP also assists researchers by maintaining funding resources, various databases, information on sponsoring agencies and pending grant applications. |
