Brookings Chamber Music Society concert postponed due to weather

Violinist Lun Li will perform in the last concert of the Brookings Chamber Music Society 2023-24 series at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in the Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. 

All young string players are invited to attend free of charge with an accompanying $20 adult ticket. South Dakota State University students are free with ID, and other student tickets are $5 apiece. 

Li is on the roster of the prestigious Young Concert Artists organization. He is committed to creating thought-provoking, boundary-pushing concert experiences for contemporary audiences around the world. A native of Shanghai, China, Li won first prize in the 2021 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, the Paul A. Fish Memorial Prize and the Buffalo Chamber Music Society Prize and was named John French Violin Chair at Young Concert Artists. He is also the recent joint first-prize winner at the Lillian and Maurice Barbash J.S. Bach Competition. 

Li made his New York City recital debut at Merkin Concert Hall and his Washington, D.C., recital debut at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater, both presented by Young Concert Artists. He has appeared as concerto soloist with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra and the Riverside Symphony at Alice Tully Hall. An avid chamber musician, Li has participated in the Marlboro Music Festival, the Verbier Music Festival Academy, Music@Menlo’s international program, and Music from Angel Fire. 

Beginning in 2024, Li is a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Bowers Program. He has appeared on major musical stages throughout the world including Konzerthaus Berlin, Kulturpalast Dresden and Wiener Konzerthaus. He has appeared on tour with the Curtis Institute of Music and Musicians from Marlboro, bringing him to Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall and 92Y in New York City. 

Li holds a bachelor’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music (’20) and a master’s from The Juilliard School (’22). His mentors include Ida Kavafian, Catherine Cho and Joseph Lin. He is currently pursuing an artistic diploma at The Juilliard School, where he serves as teaching assistant to Cho.
