About Us
Hilton M. Briggs Library serves all SDSU academic disciplines and holds approximately 680,000 bound volumes, 1 million microforms, and over 600,000 government documents, in addition to 66,700 electronic journals. Reference librarians are available to assist in locating materials and conducting research. The library building offers a variety of collaborative and individual work spaces, including couches, tables, classrooms, study rooms and quiet areas.
SDSU Archives and Special Collections is located on the library’s top floor. It preserves not only the history of SDSU, but also the history and culture of South Dakota, including the transformation of agriculture and rural life, and American Indian life and culture. Archives collections are freely available to the public for viewing within its reading room and Senator Thomas A. Daschle Congressional Research Study.
Briggs Library is also home to these other campus departments and services:
- Writing Center
- International Affairs and Outreach
- Center for Professional Enrichment and Teaching Excellence
