Creating meaningful Online Learning Communities: It’s more than a platform!

Friday, Oct. 18, 2024

Event Details

Over the past 10 years National University supported their fully online graduate students with The Commons, a virtual community space for connection and support. Students that engaged in The Commons were more likely to remain at the university. In this webinar, National University academic and student support leadership will unpack their unified strategy for cultivating student engagement across the institution. A team of presenters (Dean, Faculty member, Academic Support Services, Student Experience, and Virtual Community Architect) will provide their unique viewpoints and insights on how they foster a sense of belonging and community among students through their various roles. A sense of belonging means a student feels part of a community without having to adapt who they are. A student who feels like they are part of a university is more likely to engage with the university community (Dost & Smith, 2023; Masika & Jones, 2016).
