The study of living microorganisms and infectious agents.
The microbiology minor is open to all majors and is especially appropriate for students majoring in the biological or agricultural sciences, physical sciences or science education. The minor provides students with a broad background in all facets of microbiology, preparing them to pursue careers in diagnostic and research laboratories, public health, agriculture, food industry, pharmaceutical companies, academia, governmental agencies and the private sector. The goal is to provide a sound but varied educational experience.

Entering the university in the exploratory studies program will help you gain confidence and valuable insights on majors and minors available at SDSU and future career choices.
In addition, FOCUS 2 Career, a self-guided assessment, education and career planning program, will help you reflect on your values, interests, personality traits and skills to provide valuable insight as you explore major and career choices. After completing FOCUS 2 Career, you may find it helpful to discuss your results with a career coach in the Office of Career Development.
