Summer Aid

To request summer federal financial aid, first make sure you have filed the FAFSA for the upcoming school year and the results have been sent to SDSU (code 003471). You must also complete the Summer Federal Financial Aid Request. The Summer Federal Financial Aid Request is located on our Forms site and is completed through DocuSign.

When a student receives federal loans in the summer, it is not an additional amount. The full amount the student is awarded for the year is split into three semesters (summer, fall and spring), instead of two (fall and spring). Summer of 2025 will be based on the 2025-2026 FAFSA. Please have the 2025-2026 FAFSA completed before turning in your Summer Federal Financial Aid Request. Requests received without the 2025-2026 FAFSA completed will not be processed.

Important: If you change your Summer enrollment by withdrawing, dropping or failing all classes, your aid is subject to reduction or cancellation.

Eligibility for Summer Aid

Financial aid eligibility for summer classes is the same as the Fall and Spring semester requirements. A student must be:

Enrolled in a Degree-seeking program.

Registered as at least a half-time student (six undergraduate credits or five graduate credits).

In good-standing with federal student aid programs.
