The South Dakota State University School of Performing Arts presents the A/B Duo on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

From djembe to Nintendo Gameboy to contrabass flute to drum set, A/B Duo’s no-limits instrumentation and imaginative concert programming have delighted audiences all over the United States. Made up of flutist Meerenai Shim and percussionist Christopher G. Jones, A/B Duo has made a mark for its “fresh, vibrant new music” and “commitment to widening the repertoire.” (Fanfare Magazine) Learn more about the duo online.

The A/B Duo will join SDSU faculty Aaron Ragsdale and Elizabeth Robinson for a program featuring flute/percussion duos by Matthew Joseph Payne and Valerie Coleman, culminating with the South Dakota premiere of Juri Seo's “Birds, Bees and Electric Fish” for two flutes and two percussion. One part concert, one part audio-visual experience, this performance will include acoustic instruments interacting with a Gameboy, music paired with visual art, whirly tubes, bubble wrap and slide whistles.

This event is free and open to the public.
