Lesher S. Wing was active in basketball and band while attending South Dakota State College and was editor of the "Jackrabbit" in 1915. After graduation, he was employed by several companies including Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Co., Consumers Power Co., Puget Sound Power and Light, American Smelting and Refining Co., the California Farm Bureau Federation and the Federal Power Commission. He also served during World War I in the U.S. Signal Corps. His employment with the Federal Power Commission included service as chief engineer for the National Power Survey and regional director for the Denver and San Francisco Offices. His various assignments included responsibility for power irrigation, stream flows and significant reports on several major projects in the west United States.
