Errol P. EerNisse continued his studies after graduating from South Dakota State College earning an M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana in 1963 and 1965, respectively, and a M.I.A. degree from the University of New Mexico in 1974. He spent 14 years at the Sandia National Laboratories, 11 of those years as Division Supervisor of Solid State Device Physics or Ion Implantation Physics.
He left in 1979 to start Quartztronics, Inc., a research and development company based on quartz resonator transducer technologies, where he served as president. In 1982 he founded a second company Quartzdyne, Inc., where he served as vice president of research and development. Both companies were located in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a fellow of the Institute of Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a fellow of the American Physical Society and was the recipient of the 1983 W.G. Cady Award from the IEEE Sonics and Ultrasonics Group. A member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, he was listed in Who’s Who in Engineering and Science and Who’s Who in the West. EerNisse co-authored, edited or contributed to two books, and published over 100 technical articles and formal technical presentations. He held several U.S. and foreign patents.
