Dennis Little joined General Electric Aircraft Engines on the Engineering Training Program following his graduation from South Dakota State University starting a long career with that company. Three years later he transferred to the Thermodynamics Design Section and worked his way up through management. In the late 1970s he became manager of the Thermodynamics Design and Controls Engineering Section. In the early 1980s, he became Manager of Product Design Engineering for all production engines. He later became Department manager of production control and systems engineering and then moved to the business management of Advanced Engine Products. In 1989, Little was made a corporate officer and appointed vice president and general manager with responsibility for the marine and industrial business and engine services business. In 1995, he became vice president and general manager of the Military Aircraft Engine Business where he served until his retirement in 1999.
