Delbert Leppke completed classified course work and graduated from the Atomic Energy Commission’s Oak Ridge School of Reactor Technology following his graduation from South Dakota State College. He then completed some graduate work in nuclear and mechanical engineering at Columbia University. He was a leader in the nuclear power industry specializing in the advancement of technology related to the design and licensing and nuclear power generation facilities.
He founded the Nuclear Engineering Division, the Regulatory Service and Engineering Co. and advanced to various executive positions in the firm. After a merger, he became manager of technology development at Fluor Engineers, Inc. Leppke was an active member of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) serving in various capacities within the Power Division and on Nuclear Standards Committees. He was a charter member of the Chicago Chapter of ANS and also served in various capacities in the Western Society of Professional Engineers. In retirement, he continued his interest in the electric power industry by serving on the Evanston Energy Commission and provided independent inspection services at power generation facilities.
