Biography
Dr. Markel is professor of psychology and director of the School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies. He specialized in behavior genetics in his graduate work and obtained post-doctoral training in neuropharmacology and human genetics. He worked and consulted in the biotechnology sector and has published on the genetics of alcohol sensitivity and schizophrenia. He has held academic appointments at Boston University, Harvard Medical School and Limburgs Universitair Centrum, Belgium. Dr. Markel’s current research program is diverse and includes, among other topics, haptic spatial cognition and individual differences in pleasure attainment and happiness.Education
