Areas of Research

Her research interest lies in visual media and the extreme contemporary period (post-1980) in France. Specifically, her research centers on the intersection of immigration, images and politics in France, and more broadly on the role of ethnic and gender minorities in shaping and challenging contemporary definitions of nationhood. She has published on representations of Algerian immigration in the work of Soualem, Bensmaïl, Leuvrey and Oujdi. More recently, she has focused her scholarship on memory and public spaces in documentary filmmaking.
