Biography

Dr. Crowe came to South Dakota State University in 1995. He teaches the Music Department's First Year Seminar and courses in the music industry, Methods and Materials of Instrumental Music Teaching, Technology for Music Educators and Supervision of School Music Programs. He also teaches Applied Trombone and supervises field experience and student teachers in music. Dr. Crowe earned the B.M. in music education from Furman University, Greenville, South Carolina and an M.M. in music theory from Florida State University, Tallahassee. He received the D.M.A. in music education with a minor in wind conducting from the University of Arizona, Tucson, in 1994. Dr. Crowe has presented at the national conferences of the Society of Music Instructional Technology and National Association for Music Education, and has served as a judge and clinician in Georgia, Arizona, Missouri, Minnesota and South Dakota. Dr. Crowe is former president of South Dakota Music Educators Association and is also a member of the National Association for Music Education, South Dakota Bandmasters, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity and Phi Beta Mu, the national honorary band fraternity.
