Biography

Cheyenne grew up on a beef and row crop farm in southwest Minnesota; with ties to FFA and 4-H, she was drawn to SDSU's strong academic programs within agriculture and natural resources as an undergraduate student. Since her graduation, she's worked within the non-profit and private sectors ranging from extension education and advocacy roles to international logistics for livestock feed sales. This led to travel opportunities across the country and abroad, spurring a greater desire to grow as an educator and communicator within international agriculture. When the opportunity to pursue a Master's of Science degree at Oklahoma State University aligned, Cheyenne dove into supporting animal science introductory courses as a graduate teaching assistant and researching the impact of infographics to student perception of retail meat packaging methods.

The opportunity to share SDSU with future Jackrabbits led her back to campus. Cheyenne's primary goal as a departmental recruiter is to inspire the next generation of middle and high school-aged students to consider a field of study and career path in dairy and food sciences. This includes visiting classrooms across the region with engaging, hands-on, food-based experiments (both in class and virtually), providing SDSU dairy farm and Davis Dairy Plant tours for prospective students and families, supporting food and dairy-based FFA and 4-H events as needed, collaborating with industry partners and alumni to showcase internship and career opportunities, mentoring current students and representing one of the last dairy-focused departments in the country at events such as World Dairy Expo, National FFA Expo, World Ag Expo and Central Plains Dairy Expo.
