Biography

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Bradley Snyder joined the faculty of South Dakota State University in Fall 2022 as instructor of low brass. Prior to joining SDSU, he was the bass trombonist with the Ocala Symphony Orchestra for four seasons. A versatile musician, he has performed with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Jacksonville Symphony, the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Grand Opera, the Tallahassee Symphony, the Coastal Symphony of Georgia, the Houston Brass Quintet, the Foundation for Modern Music (TX), Houston Jazz Orchestra and Sinfonia Gulf Coast. As a soloist, Dr. Snyder was a finalist for the International Trombone Association’s Donald Yaxley Solo Bass Trombone Competition in 2017.

Outside of teaching and performing Dr. Snyder is an active arranger for trombone and low brass ensembles. His arrangements have been performed at the International Trombone Festival, Cleveland Trombone Seminar, and by the Southeast Trombone Symposium Youth Workshop. Snyder’s arrangements are published through imbrassworks.com. Additionally, Dr. Snyder serves as the Online Newsletter Manager for the International Trombone Association.

Dr. Snyder received his Doctor of Music from Florida State University, a Master of Music from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from Pennsylvania State University. His previous teachers include Dr. John Drew, Allen Barnhill, Mark Lusk, Bruce Lazier and Robert Matchett III.
