Students from SDSU’s College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions presented posters at the 2023 Midyear Clinical Meeting of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The 2023 meeting was held from Dec. 2-7.
SDSU grads present substance use disorder research at APHA annual meeting
Two graduates of the Master of Public Health program at South Dakota State University recently presented research posters at the American Public Health Association 2023 Annual Meeting and Expo. The event took place in Atlanta, Georgia, Nov. 12-15. Sarah Schweitzer and Cedric Cogdill, 2023 graduates of the program, presented on research related to stigma surrounding substance use disorder, utilizing survey data.
SDSU pharmacy program expanding to add second post-graduate residency with Lewis Drug
South Dakota State University’s College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions will expand its community-based pharmacy residency program from one to two residencies beginning in 2024. Since 2012, SDSU has offered one residency as part of its joint residency program with Lewis Drug.
SDSU respiratory therapist instructor honored
Citing her dedication and commitment to patients, respiratory therapist Abby Wortman has been honored with a national award by Monument Health. Wortman, of Rapid City, holds dual roles as an instructor in the respiratory care program at South Dakota State University and a respiratory therapist at the Rapid City hospital.
College of Pharmacy, Allied Health Professions faculty present at SDSU’s first SoTL Symposium
South Dakota State University hosted the inaugural Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Symposium on Nov. 1. The symposium saw 25 different presentations and posters from 35 faculty from across SDSU, as well as a keynote from Peter Felten, professor of history, executive director of the Center for Engaged Learning, and assistant provost for teaching and learning at Elon University.
O’Connor publishes commentary on regulation in pharmacy profession
Shanna O’Connor, associate professor and head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at South Dakota State University, recently published a commentary on pharmacy regulations in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association.
