Bob Duxbury and his wife Rose farm and ranch near Wessington. He is well known for his many years of service in the State Legislature in both the Senate and House, and has held a senior position on the State Appropriations Committee for nearly 20 years. He also served as the South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture from 1975 to 1978. Prior to that, he was a member of the State Fair Board from 1971 to 1975.
Duxbury's affiliation with the 4-H program spans six decades. He served as president of the South Dakota 4-H Leaders Association and received the first National 4-H Alumni Award for South Dakota in 1973. As chair of the Hand County 4-H Leaders Association, he helped secure the current county 4-H facilities and assisted with construction of the covered show ring.
He earned a degree from South Dakota State College in 1956, and went on to teach animal science and coach livestock judging teams from 1956 to 1959.
Bob and Rose have five children and eleven grandchildren. Each child and many of the grandchildren are involved in 4-H.
