Mrs. Louis Meehan was born in Iowa. She was graduated from the eighth grade and Tilford Academy after which she attended Iowa State Teachers College.
The Meehans had five children, all of whom were reared on the family farm near Junius.
Meehan spent her leisure time reading, doing handicraft work, writing verses and hiking.
Meehan was a member of the Catholic Church and the Women’s Altar Society. She was a member of the Order of Foresters and the National Catholic Welfare Council. She was president of PTA., chairman of the membership committee and program committee; president of Herman Hustler (home economics) Club; vice-president of Meridan (social) Club and a member of the County Home Extension Executive Board.
She traveled extensively after 1934, going to the Chicago World’s Fair that year, and to the conference of Associated Country Women of the World in Washington, D. C., in 1936. She and Mr. Meehan have visited most of the western states and in 1945 traveled nearly 10,000 miles by auto on a trip which included a visit to Mexico.
She attended national Country Women meetings in 1934, 1936, 1946 and 1949.
