Geneva and her husband Robert farm near Brookings. She is a 1949 South Dakota State College graduate with a degree in home economics. She taught home economics at Canton High School for three years. She has been an active member of Farm Bureau, a 4-H leader and a supporter of her family and community.
She was a 4-H International Farm Youth Exchange (IFYE) program participant in Ireland. She and her husband have hosted IFYE students from the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Sweden, Australia and Italy. In 1998, they traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the 50th Anniversary IFYE Reunion.
She has been active in 4-H throughout her life. She attended the National 4-H Congress and National 4-H Conference as a 4-H Club Member. She also attended the National 4-H Conference 50th Anniversary with her son Neal, who was a South Dakota 4-H delegate that year. All of her children have been active in 4-H.
Foster has judged at County Achievement Days and State Fair for many years. She has been a county leader, and a 4-H Foundation Trustee. She frequently volunteers her time at the SDSU Agricultural Heritage Museum. She is a charter member of the Altrusa Club, and member of PEO; Phi Upsilon Omicron Alumni Chapter, the Home Economics Honor Society and attended the National Conclave in 1994 and 1998. She is also a member of Fiberworks Guild, and First Presbyterian Church.
Geneva and her family are avid supporters of SDSU Theater and athletics, especially basketball. Geneva and Robert have four children.
