Dorothy Gill currently works as an instructor at the Sisseton-Wahpeton Community College in Sisseton. She is also an Americorp Volunteer. Earlier, she served as director of the Tribal Health Department for the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe, director of Adoption and Foster Care Policies Program, director of the Neighborhood Youth Corp, and assistant director of the North East South Dakota Community Action Program.
Her volunteer activities are substantial, and include the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribe, Enemy Swim District and numerous Inter-Tribal Organizations. She participated in the National Indian Council on Aging, the Four State Indian Health Board, the North Dakota Indian Social Services Commission, the Lakota TB and Health Association and helped establish the first Native American Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons on the Lake Traverse Indian Reservation.
She is a member of the South Dakota State Board of Social Services, the Advisory Council to the South Dakota Health Systems Agency, Human Services Agency and State Cancer Committee.
