The Construction and Concrete Industry Management department is one of six academic units in the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering at South Dakota State University. Housed in historic Solberg Hall, the Construction and Concrete Industry Management department is home to degree programs in applied management, engineering technology and the general engineering non-degree sequence.

The mission of the Construction and Concrete Industry Management Department is to produce high quality program graduates through relevant and contemporary learning experiences and enhance the economic vitality of the region through applied research, technical assistance and service for our constituents.

Our departmental goals are:

  1. Achieve academic excellence via high quality programs, engaging our students, and providing innovative teaching and learning environments.
  2. Extend the reach and impact of the department in the community.
  3. Disseminate research, scholarship and expertise for the public good.
  4. Secure necessary resources to support our goals.

The concrete problem

Mohammed Teymouri, assistant professor of construction management in South Dakota State University's Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering, is working to solve one of the most pressing issues in the construction industry: how to lower carbon emissions of concrete.

Jackrabbit in the spotlight / Roth’s future may include return to alma mater

Emma Roth never knew a degree in concrete industry management existed when she enrolled at South Dakota State University in fall 2021. Now she is only a semester away from graduating and has made quite an impact on the 3-year-old program. She would like to make an even bigger impact in the future — as program director.

The annual South Dakota State University Celebration of Faculty Excellence recognized 30 faculty members, researchers and scientists Tuesday. The event honors faculty members in the university's colleges for outstanding research, teaching and service.
